This logistics experience enables the non-profit organizations to save time and money. In logistics training courses, HLO also passes on its know-how to the organizations. I2PANEMA – Intelligent IoT-based Port Artefacts
Catkin has been active in the project I2PANEMA of the organization ITEA3 since June 2019. The project deals with the digitization of port operations. To this date, port operations still rely on analogue communication methods. The project participants see promising solutions in innovative IoT technologies that not only make harbor operations more efficient, but also more sustainable. In this context, catkin contributes its know-how in the field of digitized and automated communication solutions within the transport logistics industry.
OKTOPUS – Optimising maritime logistics through machine learning
The project ‘OKTOPUS’ of the IHATEC series deals with the optimisation of logistics and disposition processes within the maritime transport chain with the help of machine learning from steel logistics. catkin GmbH is also involved in the project, which started on 01.02.2020. There are two core aspects within the project: On the one hand, a study is being conducted to examine the usability of machine learning methods for use within multimodal transport chains and in transhipment terminals. On the other hand, the resulting research results will serve as a solution approach in the form of a digital platform. Finally, the aim of the project is to develop a design for such a platform, which, for example, enables the representation of ETAs within the shipping industry and at the same time supports the individual planning processes by representing the capacity requirements per mode of transport.
